Taking steps towards a cleaner, more sustainable and better future together. This is the basis behind Hotel Neutraal, an initiative of sixteen Rotterdam hotels, Rotterdam Partners, BlueCity, Municipality of Rotterdam and Green Leisure Group to make the hotel business more sustainable.

Collaborating, finding new ways, experimenting and sharing knowledge are all part of Rotterdam’s DNA. Under the label Hotel Neutraal, this is exactly what a growing group of Rotterdam hotel entrepreneurs have been doing since 2022. Together they are taking concrete steps in the field of energy and water savings, reducing waste flows, stopping the use single-use plastics and disposable packaging, emission reduction, circular entrepreneurship and overall a greener and better Rotterdam.

How does it work?

A baseline measurement is carried out at participating hotels, which provides insight into where the hotels are located and what their possible sustainable quick-wins are. The hotels then work under guidance and on the basis of a step-by-step plan to achieve the sustainable goals. Ambitions, knowledge and best practices are shared through knowledge sessions and workshops.
