South American delegation visits Rotterdam to explore smart urban mobility

Rotterdam is one of the leaders of mobile innovation in Europe and has the ambition to be the frontrunner in Smart Mobility. The city is open to innovation and facilitates and supports different types of pilots for mobility related initiatives. The emphasis lies on smart, sustainable and green (emission reducing) innovations to create healthy mobility for everyone.

From 3-6 June a delegation of South American government officials, entrepreneurs and NGO representatives visited Rotterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven to learn from the Dutch knowledge and expertise on future, sustainable mobility and to visit various innovative mobility related companies and initiatives. The delegation included several embassies and representatives from Peru, Columbia, Panamá, Mexico and Chili.

Tackling future urban mobility

The visit on 3 and 4 June to Rotterdam (at the Schielandshuis, the head office of Rotterdam Partners) was all about how the city of Rotterdam is tackling future urban mobility and zero emission. The program included presentations by Vice Mayor Judith Bokhove (mobility) and Mr. Martin Guit (strategist at department for mobility at municipality of Rotterdam) and provided networking opportunities for the delegates with experts and companies from Rotterdam. The program also included a visit to Spark design & innovation, a leading Rotterdam based company and a frontrunner in the field of innovative and smart solutions in areas like mobility and travel, health and medical, food and industry and a visit to the future mobility congress ITS European Congress 2019 in Eindhoven.

Mobility City Campus

Rotterdam is fast becoming a European HQ for future urban mobility. It was recently announced that Rotterdam will be the host city for the new Mobility City Campus, an ambitious project with global impact and a truly pioneering ideology and showcasing cutting-edge innovation that will shape the way people and cargo move for the next decades to come.
