About Maritime Museum Rotterdam

Listen to stories of rugged sailors, brave explorers, diligent dockworkers, sophisticated travellers, maritime technicians and steadfast captains. Admire masterpieces from the distinguished collection, such as the oldest ship model of Europe or the nautical maps of master cartographer Joan Blaeu. Take your children on an adventure in Professor Plons’ harbour or participate in one of the many activities. The museum is located in the oldest and largest museum harbour of the Netherlands, where historic ships and cranes allow you to experience how the world port of Rotterdam started at this very spot. In the summer, round trips are organised from the museum harbour.

Special rates are available for groups of 15 or more. Maritime experts give guided tours of the museum and the Leuvehaven in Dutch, English, French and German, The museum also has a restaurant and a gift shop.

At Maritime Museum Rotterdam, you will discover the enormous influence the maritime world has on our daily lives. Go on a journey through our maritime past and present in contemporary exhibitions for big and small adventurers. Listen to stories, admire masterpieces from our prominent collection or participate in one of the many activities.

The Rotterdam Maritime Museum is in Leuvehaven in the Maritime District and has a jetty for water taxis. Beurs metro station, where various tram lines also stop, is just a 1-minute walk. The Beursplein parking garage is about 2 minutes away.out two minutes away.
