Green Ports Partnership: a maritime public-private partnership between the Netherlands and Brazil

During World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition, Rotterdam Partners in close collaboration with several Dutch and Brazilian public and private parties declared their commitment to a three-year program Green Ports Partnership, by signing a joint statement.

The Green Ports Partnership was signed simultaneously at the Port of Rotterdam and Pecém Port Complex Integration. This marks the start of a three-year period of trade collaborations and activities between the two countries, with the main goal of supporting Dutch companies wanting to export and invest in Brazil, as well as supporting Brazilian companies with expansion and investment plans in the Netherlands. 

The signing ceremony which took place today coincided with the World Hydrogen Summit, which is taking place in Rotterdam. The inauguration of this partnership and was attended by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and heads of state on both the Brazilian and Dutch sides.

With mutual goals to accelerate the energy transition in Brazil and the Netherlands, this partnership paves the way for hydrogen developments and green energy systems. This significant cooperation was made possible by Rotterdam Partners, the Port of Rotterdam, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, The Netherlands Economic Diplomatic Network in Brazil and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). Various companies, as well as public and private industry organisations are also taking part in this collaboration. 

World Hydrogen Summit 

From May 9-11, Rotterdam is at the forefront of hydrogen developments as host city for the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition. This leading global event is taking place at the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre and was Initiated by the Sustainable Energy Council (SEC) in partnership with the Province of Zuid-Holland, the City of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam, World Hydrogen 2023 is the place to meet with government and private sector leaders to showcase, discuss, collaborate and do business, driving the hydrogen industry forward.
