Trade mission innovative startups to InnoVEX and Computex Taiwan

Rotterdam is a city of frontrunners, pioneers and people with the courage and will to drive change. Entrepreneurial spirit, innovative initiatives and experimentation are all integral elements of our city’s DNA. Innovation is crucial to accelerate the energy and digital transitions of our city and often lead in new ideas. Rotterdam is home to world-leading clusters in tech solutions for energy transition, CleanTech, life sciences and health technology and we showcase this knowledge during a trade mission to Computex and InnoVEX in Taiwan from 27 May to 31 May 2019.

Startups pitching @ knowledge session

On April 4^th a knowledge session about the trade mission was organised at the Venture Café in Rotterdam. Our colleague Jan-Willem van der Kolk, Business Manager Innovation, shared information on the trade mission and participants had the opportunity to pitch their startup. Winner of the participation for the mission to Computex and InnoVEX is Incooling from Eindhoven. This start-up focuses on state-of-the art cooling systems designed together with European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Trade mission with innovative startups

The trade mission to Computex and InnoVEX is a joint cooperation between The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, StartupDelta, Brainport Development and NTIO. Innovative startups joining are i.a. AMS Group, Pilotfish, OurHub Europe and the Rotterdam companies MedKitVR and LiveLoop. The mission is led by John Jorritsma, mayor of the city of Eindhoven.

The aim is to support Dutch start-ups in making relevant contacts via matchmaking. The company MedKitVR, for example, pitched their start-up today during the pitch battle at the Holland Startup Lounge.

About the trade mission to InnoVEX: innovation hub of Asia

Computex in Taiwan is one of the world’s largest computer and technology exhibitions. More than 1,600 companies and 50,000 visitors from around the world meet at Computex.

InnoVEX is a separate event at Computex focusing on innovative startups. InnoVEX is marked by the Dutch government as a strategic global event for startups who are looking to expand their business to the Asian market. Rotterdam Partners will participate in the exhibition with a Holland Lounge, which will function as a meeting place for startups, investors and partners.

Promising results last year’s mission

Last year’s trade mission to InnoVEX Taiwan helped the participating startups to:

Get featured over 100 times by international tech media, thanks to pitch competition opportunities
Open discussions with Taiwan’s leading tech businesses such as HTC, BenQ and Advantech
