Schielandshuis 2017 - House for the city
In early 2017 Rotterdam Partners, the promoter of the Rotterdam economy, took up residence in the Schielandshuis and this historical monument will once again be open to the public. The former grand townhouse will again be a “house for the city”, a place where people can meet and be inspired and informed. It will also, just as in its early years, become an important landmark: a historical icon for the city with a secret garden as an additional attraction. The people of Rotterdam, city organisations and visitors from home and abroad – whether for business or as tourists – will be welcome in the Schielandshuis.
The Schielandshuis has a new entry on the Coolsingel. This has also provide access to the renewed Rotterdam Tourist Information: the ideal departure point for a visit to the city. Rotterdam Tourist Information offers visitors and residents inspiration and information about Rotterdam, a shop with Rotterdam products and the “Rotterdam Discovery”, which shows the present, past and future of the city on a time line.
A new restaurant and bar adjacent to Rotterdam Tourist Information will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The original entrance to the Schielandshuis on Korte Hoogstraat is now the office entrance. Rotterdam Partners takes up residence on the first two floors. The Rotterdam Expat Desk is located here too. Thanks to its historical character, the Schielandshuis offers Rotterdam Partners the ability to welcome various business groups including foreign delegations. The historical period rooms in the right wing of the building are a great asset in this respect. In the future these reception rooms will also be available for use by other city organisations.
The upper office floors of the Schielandshuis will house open offices. Atlas van Stolk – already present in the building – will be located here. The other office spaces will be sublet per section or per workspace by Rotterdam Partners to partner organisations or start-ups.
See you in the Schielandshuis!
