Rotterdam Partners Convention Bureau welcomes eight new Knowledge Ambassadors

11/08/19

Rotterdam Partners believes in the power of collaboration to move the city forward. To promote Rotterdam as a congress city and to strengthen the image of Rotterdam as a robust knowledge hub we work closely with our Rotterdam Knowledge Partners. This valuable network consists of scientists, researchers and experts from various knowledge institutes, such as Erasmus University Rotterdam, Erasmus MC and TU Delft, among others.

Yesterday we were privileged to welcome eight new Knowledge Ambassadors to the network. Like the ambassadors who came before them, the new ambassadors are experts in their fields, and have had experience in attracting and/or organising an international conference. Thanks to their knowledge and experience, they are able to activate the networks and attract the conferences which suit the city’s knowledge sectors: Life Science & Health, Agri-food, Transport & Logistics, Maritime, Cleantech and Innovative Technology. This knowledge helps Rotterdam Partners attract conferences to the city more effectively.

For more than ten years now, Rotterdam has held the position of second congress city of the Netherlands, as reported by the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) statistics release annually. The city has had growing success as a congress destination, which is in line with the trend of the city’s increasingly positive international profile. Moreover, Rotterdam’s infrastructure is evolving rapidly, making it better equipped to attract larger congresses. For example, the number of hotel rooms has risen steadily in recent years, and the number of congress venues has also increased to three purpose built convention centres. The completion of the new Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Centre in 2021 has launched Rotterdam into a different category, making it possible to attract larger and more complex congresses in the future.

Recently Rotterdam Partners Convention Bureau and the cluster of Rotterdam hotels launched the ‘Rotterdam Hotel Label’. This initiative will offer organisers of conferences and corporate events the possibility to ensure the availability of a sufficient number of hotel rooms at favourable rates and conditions.
