05/10/19

World-leading travel media company Lonely Planet today (Friday 10th May 2019) launches its first Pocket guide dedicated to Rotterdam, giving travellers the inside track on what to see when visiting the Netherlands’ second-biggest city.

Managing Director of Publishing, Piers Pickard, explained: “Rotterdam is a veritable treasure trove for travellers. It’s packed full with futuristic architecture, inspired initiatives, a proliferation of art, and a surge of drinking, dining and nightlife venues, making it one of Europe’s most exhilarating cities. It was this which led Lonely Planet to name Rotterdam one of the top 10 cities in the world for travellers to visit in 2016* and it’s little wonder the number of visitors to the city continues to boom. We’re now really excited to be releasing our first Pocket guide dedicated to the city and its surrounding areas.”

Lonely Planet’s Pocket Rotterdam is packed with the most relevant, up-to-date travel tips on the city, revealing what hidden discoveries await. Delve into experimental galleries and street art, explore Rotterdam’s world-class architecture and urban design, and check out the latest stars in the city’s foodie scene.

A compliment to the city

Jannelieke Aalstein, Managing Director of Rotterdam Partners, the city’s official destination marketing organisation, says: “We’re really happy with this dedicated Rotterdam Pocket guide – Lonely Planet is an internationally renowned travel brand that’s valued for its objectivity. This new guide will help visitors to discover well-known sights, hidden gems and the best of local life. It’s a compliment to the city, the entrepreneurs of the tourism industry, the municipality, and the people of Rotterdam who make the city what it is.”
