Together with the city, we work towards the success of Rotterdam, with pride, pleasure and commitment. Our expertise is bundled in a number of departments, each with its own focus on service and target groups. All share one goal: promoting Rotterdam.
Networks, Marketing & Communication
The NMC department focuses on influencing the image of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and abroad in a positive way. The department achieves this through off-line and online marketing targeted at groups and by facilitating and connecting people, organizations and networks. This way, it achieves more in and with the city than on its own. In addition to developing and deploying their own means and campaigns and organizing meetings and networking events, a proactive media policy, Joint Marketing and City Branding play a prominent part. The latter tends to take place within the framework of Rotterdam Make It Happen, with the assistance of the online Rotterdam Branding Toolkit.
International Trade & Investment
Bringing international companies and investment to the city and the Rotterdam region and the continued strengthening of the Rotterdam entrepreneurial climate. This is what the International Trade & Investment (IT&I) department focuses on every day. The department serves as a one stop shop and offers a ‘Red Carpet Treatment’ with information and services for international entrepreneurs and personnel (expats). The choice of location, fact finding missions, introductions to relevant networks and assistance in areas such as taxation, care, permits, legislation and regulation are all part and parcel of the package of services provided by IT&I. The Rotterdam Expat Centre – part of IT&I – focuses exclusively on supporting expats, that is to say international knowledge workers who come to Rotterdam.
Convention Bureau & Tourism Board
Bringing huge, international (academic) conferences and corporate events to the city and stimulating tourism are some of the core tasks of the Convention Bureau and Tourism Board (CVB&TB). The department is responsible for approaching event organizers, conducting site inspections for potential customers, compiling bid books and making intermediaries keen to include Rotterdam in their tourist programme. Providing independent, free information and services, the Convention Bureau (CVB) targets (potential) organizers and intermediaries and links them to locations and service providers in the city. Among other things, the CVB arranges site inspections, support for making bid books, access to the right networks and partners and information about sponsoring, regulation possibilities for social programs in the city. The Tourism Board reaches out to the (inter)national tourist, using targeted campaigns among other things. To this end, intermediaries from the travel industry and local partners are the most important contacts
The Hospitality department ensures a warm welcome for visitors, residents and service providers in the city of Rotterdam. The Rotterdam Tourist Information (RTI) in Central Station and the Schielandshuis (at the Coolsingel) are the primary locations where information is available about the tourist offerings. The shops at the same locations sell products from Rotterdam and the Netherlands. The Hospitality department also has a mobile information service, which can be used on locations in the city, for example at bigger festivals and events.
